In the maritime field, as of end of April 2018, its missions consist of:
- Classification of ships and offshore units: 11,284 are classed on its register totalling 118.4 GRT
- Certification and issuance of statutory certificates on behalf of more than 130 Government and Flag authorities;
- Technical assistance and advisory services;
- Training services in the marine, technical and regulatory field.
Bureau Veritas has a consistent network of over 2,600 highly qualified marine surveyors, naval architects and engineers specialised in the implementation of safety, security, protection of environment rules and standards, operating in 180 survey stations and located in 90 countries.
Bureau Veritas develops R&D programmes and technical studies with a high level of expertise in safety and quality in order to facilitate decision-making processes and the optimisation of costs.
