Categories

There are thirteen categories to choose from, recognising everything from digital technology and cyber security to sustainable shipping and supply chain management.  Each entry will be judged on achievements by companies or individuals in each of the criteria set out below.


Industry Award Categories

Entries for these categories are judged by an independent panel, which features leading maritime associations.

Safety at Sea Award

This Award is open to any company or individual who has  demonstrated  significant technical or procedural improvements leading to reduction of risk to human life at sea. Judges will be supported by a range of Lloyd’s List
Intelligence vessel data for inspections, deficiencies, detentions, casualties
and survey timeliness.

Investment in People Award

In endorsement of IMO’s World Maritime Day 2021 theme ‘Seafarers: at the core of shipping’s future’, this Award will recognise a significant contribution to the welfare of the industry’s most valuable asset, its people.  The judges will consider actions taken to improve crew welfare at sea as well as contributions to training, recruitment and retention.

 

Sustainable Shipping Award

This Award will recognise the introduction of a new product, procedure or measures which will make a serious contribution to the achievement by the shipping industry of its environmental targets including reductions to emissions and enabling sustainable maritime transport beyond simple regulatory compliance.


Intelligent Shipping Awards

Entries for these categories are judged by a seperate independent panel.

Marine Digital Technology Award

This Award will recognise the development and / or application of innovative marine technology that supports the achievement of specific goals. This could include vessel performance optimisation, company productivity & performance or fleet management. Judges will be looking for a detailed description of the technology in question, how it has been used to meet goals (sustainability target, efficiency gains, financial gains etc), the return on investment and the customer benefit.

Cyber Security Award

This Award will recognising a solution to the challenge of improving the robustness, accessibility and cost effectiveness in cyber security across the whole maritime industry.

Port & Terminal Digital Technology Award

In association with TOC Events Worldwide

This award will recognise the development and / or application of innovative port and terminal technology that supports the achievement of specific goals, for example: cargo handling performance optimisation, terminal operations efficiency gains, safety improvement and cost saving. Judges will be looking for a detailed description of the technology in question, how it has been used to meet goals (sustainability targets, efficiency gains, financial gains etc), the return on investment and the customer/supply chain benefit.

New! Sustainable Supply Chain Management Award

In association with International Marine Purchasing Authority (IMPA)

Entries for these categories are judged by a seperate independent panel.

This Award will recognise companies and/or individuals putting sustainability at the heart of their supply chain management processes. Judges will be looking for quantifiable evidence of reduction of negative environmental impact, new ideas with cost effective business models, R&D commitment and the breadth of impact on organisational culture.

Editorial Choice Awards

Nominations for these awards are invited from the international business community and the winners chosen by Editorial representatives from Seatrade and Lloyd’s List.

Deal of the Year 

This award recognises a significant business deal in the international maritime industry supporting its growth and sustainability. The judges will be looking for background information on the deal; the impact it had on the company; an indication of the complexities of the deal; any innovative features, how it was done and the final transaction value in US$. 

Newcomer of the Year

Presented to an individual or organisation making an exceptional impact on the industry in the past 12 months.

Diversity & Equality Award

This Award recognises an individual or organisation that has demonstrated a particular commitment to achieving equality/diversity in a business environment.  Supporting evidence should be provided to illustrate a commitment to a diversity culture

Global Performer

Sponsored by Bureau Veritas

Awarded to a company or organisation which has contributed exceptionally to the development of global shipping and logistics.

Personality of the Year

Awarded to an individual who has made a major contribution to the shipping industry in any field. 

Lifetime Achievement Award

This award is to honour an individual who has made a significant and lasting contribution to shipping and the maritime industry.
