With 150 years of maritime heritage, a strategic location at the heart of Asia, many institutional strengths and a vibrant maritime cluster, Hong Kong is a world renowned international maritime centre and a transhipment hub port.

To entrench Hong Kong’s status as an international maritime centre, the HKSAR Government has set up the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) in 2016 which provides a high-level platform for the Government to work in partnership with the industry for the betterment of our maritime and port sector.  Chaired by the Secretary for Transport and Housing and comprising industry figures from maritime and port sectors Hong Kong, HKMPB sets directions for the long-term development of Hong Kong’s port and maritime services, fosters the development of maritime manpower, and devises promotion strategies and initiatives with a view to entrenching Hong Kong’s status as an international maritime centre.
